Women with Learning Disabilities in the Criminal Justice System

LDE member KeyRing and the Prison Reform Trust are working on a project that looks at the experiences of women with learning disabilities in the criminal justice system.

The aim of the research is to find out about people’s experiences and make recommendations that will make the criminal justice system better for women with learning disabilities.

They want to speak to women with learning disabilities who have been a suspect, defendant, offender, prisoner or victim.

The first session will just be a get together, a chance for participants to get to know the researchers. And after that there will be some informal interviews.

There will also be focus groups with family members and carers.

If you’re interested in being part of the research, either as a woman with a learning disability, or as a carer, please contact Kate at kate.newrick@keyring.org.
