This week, the Prime Minister made a speech about changing social care.

He said he wants to lead changes to make social care work better for people.

At Learning Disability England, we are hopeful about these plans. It is good to see the Prime Minister and the government making social care a priority.

There is still a lot we do not know about the plans.

It is important that people with learning disabilities, their families and their supporters are included in the changes.

We will work for members to have their say.

This week, the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care also announced changes to support people who work in social care.

This includes plans for a new pension scheme for care workers. There are also plans to improve pay and give care workers better chances to develop their careers.

People who work in social care do an important job. It is important that they are properly valued and supported.

The Co-chairs of Learning Disability England’s Rep Body will work with members to understand what these changes could mean for people with learning disabilities, their families and supporters.

There is still a lot to find out. Learning Disability England will keep members updated as we learn more and will look for ways for members to have their voices heard.
