Learning Disability England to stop using X (Twitter)

The Representative Body have decided Learning Disability England will stop using the social media platform ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter).

We do not think that the way X works at the moment fits with the values of Learning Disability England as a movement that champions a rights-based approach based on equality, dignity and fairness.

The reason for doing this is we see the policies of X now are allowing racist or hate speech and not challenging when people do or say things that we think are hateful (not free speech).

We know some members and partners have decided to stop using X too.

We also understand some members and partners are still using X and are positive voices. Learning Disability England’s decision may change one day if more is done on X to challenge hate speech and racism.

We understand that there are lots of people who we follow on X and whose work we share, and people who share our work.  We hope you will follow us on other social media and we can be in touch there.

You can follow Learning Disability England over on Facebook, BlueSky, and LinkedIn.
