How Learning Disability England shares news

Learning Disability England shares news and information in four ways.

We share information about important national policy, member projects and campaigns on this news feed on the website.

We also have guest blogs and vlogs (video blogs) on this news feed where members can share their views and ideas with others.

If you are interested in writing a guest blog please email anna.balding@LDEngland.org.uk

We send out a weekly newsletter to members every Monday morning by email.

The newsletter has information and events from Learning Disability England, members and partners.

And a section about latest government updates.

Members and partners can send in information they want included in the newsletter.

It should be sent to anna.balding@LDEngland.org.uk by 12 noon on Thursday to be included in the following week’s newsletter.

Content for newsletters should be no more than three short sentences in plain English and we can also add a link for people to find out more.

Please note we cannot guarantee that your item will go into the newsletter.

Sometimes there are too many items for a particular week.

And some weeks the newsletter is about just one thing that is very important to members.

We have to make choices about what to include so that the newsletter has a good mix of things for all members.

We also share information from members and partners on our social media accounts.

Learning Disability England has a Bluesky, LinkedIn and a Facebook account.

We can share more things on social media than in the newsletter.

So we may be able to share something on social media even if there is not space in the newsletter.

We can also share work and action people are proud of, that is rights-based and working towards Good Lives in the Good Lives Action Collection.

This might be a campaign, report, movement, guide or research.

Think you might have something to share? Please email anna.balding@ldengland.org.uk

There are some things that Learning Disability England will not usually share.

We do not share fundraising activities or requests for donations.

We also do not generally share petitions – this is because to be able to do this we would need to know how members feel about the issue or get agreement from the representative body. We get sent too many to be able to do this and it is not fair to only show them some and not others.

We do not share general vacancies. For example support worker jobs.

But we will share specialist roles, especially if they are aimed at people with lived experience.

We cannot share every request for help with research or every survey.

But we will do our best to share research and surveys that are of national importance and will directly improve or affect the lives of people with learning disabilities, their families and the people who support them.

We do not generally share events and conferences where there is a cost for the ticket.

We will prioritise sharing free or low cost training opportunities.
